Welcome back, fellow travelers. I’m Penny, your guide through the intricacies of the human experience and the quiet power of the soul.
On Wednesday, we pulled back the curtain on the "Phantom of the Mind", Worry. We looked at how worry acts as a destructive "phantasy," a mental loop that disorganizes your thoughts and, eventually, your physical well-being. If you missed Part 1, think of it as the diagnosis. We identified the disease that keeps so many of us paralyzed, staring at a future that hasn’t happened yet, built entirely of shadows.
But we aren’t here to live in the shadows. If worry is the disease, then today we discuss the cure. It isn’t a pill, a productivity hack, or a more complicated calendar. It is something much older and infinitely more powerful.
In Chapter 17 of Rays of the Dawn, Dr. Thurman Fleet introduces us to the "Master Key" that brings the body and mind back into harmony. We’re talking about Faith. Not the vague, "hope-for-the-best" kind of optimism, but a profound, structural state of being that acts as a quiet revolution within the soul.
What is Faith, Really?
Have you ever stopped to define faith beyond its religious connotations? Dr. Thurman Fleet offers a definition that is as practical as it is spiritual. He writes: "Faith is an abiding trust that all is well because governed and protected by Superlative Powers which fail not."
Think about that for a second. An abiding trust. This isn't a fleeting feeling you have on a sunny day when your bank account is full. It is a foundational stance. It is the realization that there is a Law at work in the universe, a Divine Intelligence, if you will, that doesn't take days off.
When you worry, you are essentially betting against the house. You are assuming the universe is chaotic, indifferent, or out to get you. Faith is the radical decision to believe the opposite: that the house is built on a foundation of order and that you are an integral part of that order. It is the "antidote" because it replaces the chaotic energy of fear with the organized energy of certainty.
Belief vs. Faith: Why One Isn't Enough
We often use the words "belief" and "faith" interchangeably, but Dr. Fleet makes a crucial distinction that might change how you view your own inner world.
Belief is of the intellect, but faith is of the soul.
Think of belief as the "thinking" part. You can believe that a bridge will hold your weight. You can read the blueprints, check the engineering reports, and logically conclude that it’s safe. But faith is the act of stepping onto the bridge and walking across.
Belief is a mental assent to a fact. Faith is a spiritual commitment to a reality. You can believe in success all day long, but if your soul is still vibrating with the frequency of worry, you haven’t actually crossed the bridge. Faith is when the knowledge of the mind moves down into the quiet center of the heart. It moves from "I think so" to "I am."
The Power of the Mustard Seed
You’ve likely heard the famous passage from Matthew 17:20: "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, 'Remove hence to yonder place,' and it shall remove and nothing shall be impossible to you."
It’s a beautiful image, but why a mustard seed? Why not a mountain-sized faith to move a mountain?
The magic of the mustard seed isn’t in its size; it’s in its integrity. A mustard seed is tiny, but it is 100% mustard seed. It doesn't have "maybe" or "what if" inside it. It contains the entire blueprint of a massive tree within its tiny shell, and it never doubts its purpose.
When we have even a tiny bit of "pure" faith, unclouded by the "phantasies" of worry, we align ourselves with the creative forces of nature. The mountain in your life, whether it’s a business hurdle, a health crisis, or a personal struggle, isn't moved by your sheer willpower. It is moved because you have aligned your soul with a Law that is larger than the mountain. Nothing is impossible when you stop fighting the Law and start working with it.
The "Master Key" to Discovery and Achievement
Why is it that some people seem to stumble upon "lucky" breakthroughs while others grind away for years with nothing to show for it? Dr. Fleet suggests that faith is the "Master Key" required for every great human achievement.
Think about the world’s greatest inventors and explorers. When they started, they didn't have "exact knowledge." They had a hunch. They had a vision of something that didn't exist yet. Faith is the substance that fills the gap between what is known and what is possible. It is the reality not yet present in your conscious awareness.
If you wait until you have every single piece of evidence before you act, you’ll never move. That’s not prudence; that’s a form of worry disguised as "research." Faith provides the inspiration and the courage to take the first step when the map is still blank. It is the quiet inner voice that says, "Go anyway. The path will appear."
Faith as a Requisite for Healing
This is where Dr. Fleet’s background in health and wellness truly shines. He argues that every system of securing health, whether traditional medicine, chiropractic, or spiritual healing, depends on faith for its ultimate effectiveness.
Even the Great Physician recognized this, often telling those He healed, "Thy faith hath made thee whole."
The whole person is involved in both the illness and the cure. When your soul is a playground for fear, your body reacts. Your nervous system stays in a state of "fight or flight," producing hormones that eventually break down your physical structure.
But when the soul becomes the master over fear, when faith takes the wheel, it brings the body into harmony with Divine Law. You aren't just "thinking" your way to health; you are allowing the Intelligence that created your body to repair it without the interference of your anxiety. Faith is the "permit" you give your body to heal itself.
Faith in Others and Faith in Self
We don't live in a vacuum. A huge part of our internal peace comes from how we interact with the people around us. Dr. Fleet beautifully notes: "No man is the whole of himself; those to whom he has given his faith are the rest of him."
Your personality reaches its highest development through your capacity to believe in others. When you harbor suspicion and cynicism, you aren't just hurting the other person; you are constricting your own soul. You are living in a world of "fear-based" relationships.
Faith is the invisible bond of human understanding, deep friendship, and romantic love. It is the willingness to see the potential in someone else, even when they can’t see it themselves. This same principle applies to yourself. Having faith in your own inner Intelligence, that spark of the Divine within you, is what allows you to stand tall in a world that often tries to make you feel small.
The Inherent Attribute of the Soul
As we wrap up today’s reflection, remember this: Faith is not something you have to go out and "get." It is an inherent attribute of your soul. You were born with it.
Think back to every crisis you’ve already survived. Every time you thought you wouldn't make it, and then… somehow, you did. Those memories aren't just "luck." They are evidence of a guiding hand. Faith is the essence of those memories brought into the present moment. It is the realization that if you were guided through the last crisis, you will be guided through this one, too.
It is a quiet revolution because it doesn't require a megaphone or a grand gesture. It happens in the silent space between your thoughts. It’s the moment you choose to stop worrying about the "how" and start trusting in the "Who" and the "Why."
Join me on Monday for the final installment, Part 3: The Integration. We’ll look at how to catch the worry cycle in real-time and pivot, practically and effectively, into the power of Faith. We’re going to turn these concepts into a lived reality.
Until then, take a deep breath. The universe is governed by laws that fail not. You are safe. You are guided. All is well.
